**About the Role**

We are seeking an experienced EIA specialist to join our team in infrastructure development. This is a fantastic opportunity to progress your career and work with a diverse and growing team.

The role will involve close collaboration with directors and associate directors in our National Infrastructure Planning team based in various locations across the UK. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting directors/associate directors in driving key projects forward.
  • EIA coordination (infrastructure and TCPA regulations) for residential development subject to EIA.
  • GIS management.
  • Taking responsibility for projects from early stages to completion.
  • Coordination and quality control of specialist consultants' reports.
  • Writing clear and concise reports and chapters, interpreting data, and making proportionate, effective design and mitigation advice.
  • Contributing to and maintaining Savills IEMA EIA Quality Mark.
  • Emerging EOR and digital reporting.
  • Liaising and negotiating with statutory bodies, LPA officers, consultee organisations, and third parties.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant environmental legislation.
  • Staying abreast of case law and emerging guidance.
  • Project Management/appreciation of deadline-driven nature of NSIP process and importance of appropriate responses.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A self-starter with proven organisational and project management abilities and strong people management skills.
  • An understanding of the overall NSIP process and demonstrable experience of its key stages (e.g., pre-application, application/EIA, examination).
  • IEMA Practitioner working towards Chartership, or Chartered, with 3+ years' experience as an EIA specialist.
  • Strong verbal, numerical, and report writing skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills – prioritising and working to deadlines.
  • A 'can do', hands-on team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Leadership attributes.
  • Strategic approach to problem-solving.
  • Driving licence.

About the Team

Savills Environment & Infrastructure was established in 2021 with a focus on infrastructure projects. We support our colleagues and clients with the challenges of consenting essential infrastructure, with a primary target sector of renewables and net zero, including carbon capture, wind, solar, and hydrogen. We work closely with Savills Earth, our specialist sustainability division, which includes experts from Engineering & Design Consultancy, Property Management, Energy Consultancy, Social Value, Energy Procurement, Environmental Economics, and Research.

Our team has a number of existing appointments on Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) across various project sectors, including CCUS, hydrogen, renewables, water, waste water, rail freight, power transmission, defence, and ports. We have a strong history of advising on NSIPs, DNSs, Section 36 projects, and similar, including conventional TCPA projects, in the wind, solar, CCGT, energy from waste, and nuclear sectors.

The salary for this position is £50,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
