Job Title: Diagnostic Radiographer Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Radiographer Specialist to join our team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust. As a key member of our Cross Sectional Imaging Department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality imaging services using MRI, CT scanning, and Neuroangiography modalities.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in radiography, with experience in CT, MRI, and Neuroangiography. You will be able to demonstrate good communication skills, professionalism, and a flexible approach to working to support the MRI, CT, and Neuroangiography Imaging Leads in delivering an efficient and effective service.

As a major trauma centre, we provide a 24/7 service, and you will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends. You will also be expected to work on the Southampton General Hospital site, Royal South Hants Community Diagnostic Hub, and rotating off-site in the Southampton City area providing a CT imaging service for targeted lung health check screening.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality imaging services using MRI, CT scanning, and Neuroangiography modalities
  • Work collaboratively with the MRI, CT, and Neuroangiography Imaging Leads to deliver an efficient and effective service
  • Provide training and support to colleagues in their training and development
  • Contribute to the development of protocols and procedures in cross-sectional imaging
  • Participate in quality assurance and governance processes
Requirements:
  • HCPC Registration
  • Considerable postgraduate experience of working in a department using IR(ME)R 2017 and IRR 2017 regulations in clinical practice
  • Team player who can also work independently
  • Able to work within protocols
  • Sound knowledge of all areas of Governance including H&S, COSHH, Manual Handling
  • Experience of teaching, mentoring, and supporting colleagues training and development
  • Proven ability to effectively adapt imaging technique when necessary
  • Effective verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Previous supervisory/team leading experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Quality assurance supervision and practice
  • Evidence of personal and professional development
  • Relevant clinical courses
  • Knowledge of other departments works practice with which radiology has a significant interface
  • First Level Management or Supervisory Course
  • Evidence of delegation skills
  • Coaching qualification
  • Teaching Qualification
  • Evidence of involvement in and understanding of governance processes
  • Evidence of developing protocols
  • Experience in CT, MRI, Neuroangiography Fluoroscopy
  • Evidence of personal development in and knowledge of cross-sectional imaging
Working Arrangements:

This is a permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week. You will be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, nights, and weekends. You will also be expected to work on the Southampton General Hospital site, Royal South Hants Community Diagnostic Hub, and rotating off-site in the Southampton City area providing a CT imaging service for targeted lung health check screening.

Salary:

The salary for this position is £37,338 to £44,962 per annum, pro rata.
