About the Role:
  • As a Civil and Structural Engineering Expert, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering technical Basis of Design, Method Statements, Analysis & Design reports to substantiate civil engineering structures and site infrastructure of the LFR nuclear plant.
  • You will act as Subject Matter Expert on Civil & Structural Engineering for Nuclear applications, as directed by the Head of Unit.
  • Initiate and lead delivery of technical specifications for structural analysis and design packages subcontracted to the LFR Global Engineering supply chain.
  • Act as Peer Reviewer of engineering work packages delivered internally or externally by the supply chain.
  • Support newcleo Design Authority team in civil works' design submissions as part of our Generic Design Application for the 200MWe LFR plant.
  • Support the LFR Global Engineering team towards optimisation of overall plant life-cycle design and construction.
About the Requirements:
  • A background in nuclear or other highly regulated environment, with ability to lead, undertake and review design of new building structures.
  • Proven structural analysis and design experience against accidental load cases, including seismic, impact and blast.
  • Chartered engineering status (CEng) and degree within Civil/Structural Engineering or similar/equivalent.
  • Operative knowledge of Finite Element modelling software to perform advanced structural analysis (ANSYS, LS-DYNA or equivalent).
  • Extensive subject-specific knowledge of UK, US or European codes, standards, regulations, and operational requirements for nuclear power plants.
  • Capacity to rely on engineering first principles to go beyond code-based solutions, whilst maintaining technical rigour.
  • Excellent communication and technical report writing skills.
  • A willingness to travel both within the UK and overseas to support the LFR Global Engineering team.
  • Right to work full time in the UK and achieve national security clearance equivalent to a BPSS standard, or higher, within a reasonable period.
About the Compensation:

The estimated salary for this role is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, based on your qualifications and experience.
