About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the HM Treasury team as a Policy Advisor, working on strategic defence and security issues. As a key member of the Defence, Diplomacy and Intelligence team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the UK's defence and security policy.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop Expertise in Defence Policy: You will develop in-depth knowledge of Army and Defence Digital policy, becoming a go-to resource for policy analysis and advice.
  2. Run Day-to-Day Spending Control: You will be responsible for running day-to-day spending control, project scrutiny and approvals covering the land warfare environment, Army capabilities and defence digital.
  3. Support HMT's Thinking on Defence Capabilities: You will support HM Treasury's thinking on the overall balance of defence capabilities within MOD's Equipment Plan and wider defence policy issues.
  4. Build Strong Working Relationships: You will build strong working relationships with the MOD, the Army, Strategic Command, Cabinet Office, Infrastructure and Projects Authority, and other parts of Treasury.
  5. Contribute to a Positive Team Environment: You will be an encouraging member of the team, helping to ensure a positive, encouraging and friendly working environment.
About You

We are looking for a high-performing individual with a track-record of quickly establishing positive relationships with a range of collaborators, optimally scrutinising decisions, and a positive demeanour. Previous experience of defence, security and public spending is not crucial, but we are interested in applications with a wide range of experience and backgrounds.
