Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Acute Oncology Service at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work autonomously to provide patient-centred clinical care, utilising advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic skills to formulate a shared management plan.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring patients with metastatic malignancy of unknown origin have access to rapid expert oncology input, avoiding unnecessary investigations. They will also monitor the impact of the Acute Oncology Service, using key metrics such as length of stay, and work with the Lead Acute Oncology Clinician to ensure the service meets Quality Standards and SELCA guidance.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide early input into coordination of care, ensuring patients access the right care at the right time.
  • Support the provision of telephone triage advice for patients and health professionals with complications of their systemic anti-cancer treatment.
  • Continually review and audit pathways of care.
  • Work as part of the ambulatory clinic for all patients requiring review post ED attendance.
  • Review patients as a part of the oncology daily ward round and ensure delivery of the appropriate care plan.
  • Act as a resource for colleagues within the Trust and those from other hospital Trusts.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years post-registration experience at a senior level (Band 7 or above) in cancer or acute care.
  • Experience in service development and implementation of change.
  • Publication in healthcare journals.
