Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Relations Specialist to join our team in Leeds. As a key member of our marketing and communications team, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing effective communications strategies to promote our events and brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement public relations and communications strategies that align with the company's business goals.
- Write and distribute high-quality, creative, and engaging media releases and statements to support the promotion of the events and its partners.
- Build and nurture relationships with running industry, sport, and national/regional media.
- Act as point of contact for all press and media enquiries, arranging interviews and photo calls.
- Monitor media coverage and track public relations performance metrics.
- Create compelling content for a variety of platforms, including blogs, newsletters, and the website.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to align communications and public relations activities with broader campaigns.
- Identify key opportunities to raise awareness of Jane Tomlinson's Run For All events and react accordingly.
- Undertake crisis communications/reputation management processes as required in conjunction with the Communications Director and Manager.
- Coordinate and manage media interviews, press conferences, and other public relations events.
- Stay updated on industry trends and media developments to ensure the brand remains at the forefront of the market.
- Assist in the management and development of Jane Tomlinson's Run For All's social media channels – helping to grow traffic and audiences.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Proven experience (2+ years) in public relations, communications, or a similar role.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of media relations, social media, and digital public relations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Experience using public relations and media monitoring tools is a plus.
Benefits:
- Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
- Contribution towards a personal pension following completion of a successful probationary period.
- Holiday entitlement: 25 days per year excluding public holidays.
- Normal working hours: Monday to Friday.
- Additional evening and weekend work will be required, particularly in the run up to and during the event season.
- Applicants must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle as the role can demand travel across the UK.
