About the Role

As a Deputy Finance Business Partner at H M Revenue & Customs (HMRC), you will play a key role in delivering outstanding financial services to CDIO leaders, influencing decision-making and outcomes through strong financial management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Support: Deliver financial support to CDIO budget holders and Finance Business Partners (FBPs).
  • Critical Friend: Act as a critical friend and independent financial advisor to CDIO stakeholders, challenging plans and assumptions where appropriate.
  • Financial Monitoring: Proactively monitor CDIO in-year expenditure, forecasts, financial plans, risks and opportunities.
  • Financial Analysis: Build insight based on financial data and reports, feeding into FBP and stakeholders to act upon.
  • Cost Models: Oversee cost models for expenditure, commercial activity, business cases and planning across area of responsibility.
  • Financial Commissions: Lead on regular and ad-hoc financial commissions, ensuring through analysis and presentation of data/information.
  • Financial Controls: Follow and control mechanisms to ensure effective financial controls are maintained.
  • Commercial Landscape: Build knowledge and understanding of commercial landscape and IT roadmap.
  • Management Accounting: Work closely with and provide proactive coaching and guidance to Management Accountants.
  • Deputyship: Deputise for Finance Business Partner as required.
Essential Criteria
  • Finance Experience: Previous experience of working in a finance function/environment.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationship with stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Prioritisation: Ability to prioritise the differing needs of a range of stakeholders and be able to influence decisions and actions to drive efficiencies.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into insight.
  • Technical Skills: Competence in Excel and ability to continually review and improve processes.
