Job Description

The Margate Creative Land Trust is seeking an experienced and skilled Treasurer to join its Board of Trustees. As a key member of the team, the Treasurer will play a vital role in ensuring the financial stability and sustainability of the charity.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with experience in charity governance and financial management. They will be responsible for monitoring the charity's financial performance, providing financial guidance to the Board, and ensuring that the charity's financial resources are used effectively and efficiently.

The Treasurer will also be responsible for chairing the Finance and Resources Sub-committee, which meets quarterly to review the charity's financial performance and make recommendations to the Board.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with the Board, staff, and other stakeholders. They will also have a strong understanding of charity law and governance, as well as experience in financial planning and budgeting.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor the charity's financial performance and provide financial guidance to the Board
  • Chair the Finance and Resources Sub-committee
  • Ensure that the charity's financial resources are used effectively and efficiently
  • Provide input to the charity's financial planning and budgeting processes
  • Work with the Accountants and Executive Team to ensure that annual accounts are submitted to all relevant regulators in a timely fashion

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant with experience in charity governance and financial management
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Excellent analytical and evaluation skills, with the ability to demonstrate good judgement
  • Understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of trusteeship
  • Good communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of charity fundraising and finance practices
  • Committed to the charity's cause and objectives, and willing to act as the charity's ambassador to external bodies, charities, and companies
