Job Overview

This position plays a crucial role in the delivery of two major clinical trials: The Feeling Safer trial and the Bipolar At-Risk Trial. As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will be responsible for leading the day-to-day activities of the Feeling Safer trial within the local NHS trust, including delivering psychological therapy, supervising research assistants, and ensuring high fidelity to the protocol.

You will also contribute to the planning, coordination, and completion of various research projects at the Youth Mental Health Research Unit. This includes providing clinical supervision to other research assistants, developing professional skills in research and service evaluation, and participating in writing papers for publication where appropriate.

Main Responsibilities

Key duties include administering cognitive behavior therapy to participants, delivering therapy according to the study treatment protocol, contributing to the development of theory and clinical practice, and participating in training and clinical supervision. You will also liaise with other research therapists and team members, maintain accurate records, adhere to data recording standards, and communicate complex clinical information to various recipients.

Working for Our Organisation

The Psychosis Research Unit promotes a normalizing approach to understanding psychosis, focusing on reducing distress and restoring autonomy and dignity. We prioritize the involvement of service users and people with lived experience in our research. The Youth Mental Health Research Unit aims to reduce stigma and discrimination, improve psychosocial interventions, and make a lasting impact on mental health outcomes for young people.

Person Specification

We are seeking a qualified doctorate in clinical psychology with experience in providing cognitive-behavioral approaches to clients experiencing psychosis and/or bipolar disorder. Essential skills include excellent cognitive therapy skills, communication skills, and the ability to supervise graduate psychologists and researchers.

Salary and Benefits

We offer an estimated annual salary of £60,000 - £80,000, depending on experience.
