Aspirations Care Ltd is seeking a knowledgeable Behavioral Support Specialist

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments for referrals to assist operational teams.
  • Collaborate with various professionals (e.g., Psychology, Psychiatry, Social Work) to uphold the rights of individuals we serve.
  • Develop comprehensive Behavioral Support Plans through direct and indirect evaluations.
  • Assess the effectiveness of Behavioral Support Plans through positive monitoring techniques.
  • Facilitate transition programs for individuals moving into new living arrangements, utilizing appropriate documentation.
  • Partner with leadership and support staff to create and regularly review Behavioral Support Plans tailored to individual needs.
  • Advocate for Restraint Reduction Training Standards, emphasizing the rights of individuals experiencing distress.
  • Foster a mutual understanding of behavior functions and devise strategies to enhance alternative communication methods.
  • Ensure timely collection, analysis, and review of data related to distress communication incidents.
  • Provide Continuous Professional Development (CPD) sessions as needed.
  • Collaborate with other support departments to enhance service delivery.
  • Contribute to a reflective organizational culture that learns from experiences to improve outcomes.
  • Engage individuals in their care and support through co-production.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills to manage caseloads and effectively plan interventions.
  • Demonstrate leadership by modeling best practices and occasionally working alongside staff to implement strategies.
  • Conduct workshops as necessary.
  • Hold or be willing to pursue certification as a CPI Safety Intervention Instructor.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience in supporting individuals using the Positive Behavior Support framework.
  • Valid driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel for service visits and meetings.
  • Person-centered beliefs and values.
  • Strong communication abilities.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively in a leadership role, positively influencing others.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Positive Behavior Support principles and Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Proven experience in behavioral assessments and developing effective interventions.
  • Background in direct support for individuals with learning disabilities and/or Autism, including managing challenging behaviors.
  • History of reducing restrictive practices.
  • Experience in delivering Positive Behavior Support training.
  • Proficient record-keeping and report writing skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legal frameworks and policies, including the Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding protocols.
  • Integrity and resilience to provide exceptional services to those we support.
  • Ability to identify strategies that minimize or prevent restrictive practices.
  • Creative problem-solving skills to overcome challenges.
  • Formal qualifications in Positive Behavior Support or related fields.
