About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Audio Typist to join our Cardiology Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for typing clinical correspondence using the audio dictation system, according to clinical priority and chronological order in line with agreed standards of speed/accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Typing clinical correspondence using the audio dictation system, according to clinical priority and chronological order in line with agreed standards of speed/accuracy.
  • Prioritizing own workload appropriately, referring any service concerns to the Admin Lead in a timely manner.
  • Being proficient in the use of local Cardiology systems and Microsoft Office software including TOMCAT, Bighand, Medi-Viewer, Excel, Outlook, Word and Teams.
  • Being able to concentrate in a multi-task environment and deal with frequent, unpredictable interruptions.
  • Providing general administrative support where required across the whole function of the administration/secretarial team.
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times, ensuring that all data is kept secure and confidential in accordance with the Trust's policies.

Cath Suite Administrative Cover

  • Receiving patient queries via the telephone and liaising with appropriate staff to ensure query is resolved in a timely manner.
  • Undertaking the scanning and uploading of relevant documents to Medi-Viewer following patient attendance to the unit.
  • Producing the agenda for patients to be discussed at the MDT with guidance from the lead consultant.
  • Ensuring that all clinical information for these patients is available in preparation for the MDT.
  • Ensuring post-MDT correspondence is sent to external and internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Liaising with the Radiology staff who manage the Image Exchange Portal to facilitate the migration of images to and from the Trust.
  • Being aware of NHS waiting time targets.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Being educated to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Mathematics.
  • Having RSA or equivalent audio typing experience.

Desirable

  • Having NVQ 3/4 in Administration or working towards.
  • Being computer literate to ECDL standard or equivalent.
