A reputable educational institution in Braintree, Essex, is seeking a dedicated and reliable School Caretaker to join their permanent staff. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the school's facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily maintenance and upkeep of the school buildings and grounds.
  • Conduct routine inspections and minor repairs to ensure the facilities are in good working condition.
  • Manage security protocols, including the opening and closing of the school premises.
  • Liaise with external contractors for larger maintenance tasks and ensure timely completion.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Assist with setting up rooms and equipment for school events and activities.
  • Respond promptly to any emergencies or urgent maintenance issues.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a caretaking or maintenance role, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and protocols.
  • Practical skills in general maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours when needed.
