Job Title: Senior Transport Planner

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Transport Planner to join our team at Great Bear. As a Senior Transport Planner, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring that service levels are achieved and maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

• Optimise resource and adherence of WTD and drivers hours legislation.
• Plan driver and vehicle resource to achieve delivery and collection times, creating and updating daily run summaries.
• Create an effective transport plan to achieve on-time delivery and collection performance expectations.
• Effectively communicate with the Planning Team and other depots.
• Provide 24/7 communication transport link with customer services and sales order processing.
• Monitor retailer arrival and departure times, ensuring deliveries are made within the specified windows.
• Find the best fit solution for customer collections, adhering to collection times.
• Provide the Admin Team with schedules to maintain and achieve KPIs.
• Arrange deliveries using nominated contractors for special instruction deliveries.
• Communicate any potential failures or changes to the original plan.
• Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are logged and reported.
• Liaise with and plan Drivers in for meetings and courses as required.
• Manage vehicle cleanliness to ensure that the company's corporate image is maintained at all times.

Requirements:

• Demonstrate a high level of transport expertise in a busy and demanding environment.
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with a high level of numeracy.
• Negotiating skills with the ability to influence and steer.
• Flexible and methodical approach to work and training.
• Strong communication skills in order to deliver accurate information.
• The ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Consumer orientated and customer service driven.
• Be professional, approachable and helpful to ensure the smooth running of the general operation.
• Have proven knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers hours.
• Have significant experience in FMCG environment.
• Knowledge of Paragon and Road Runner systems would be advantageous.
