Job Description

Hitachi Zosen Inova AG is seeking a skilled Welder to join our team. As a Welder, you will be responsible for performing a variety of welding tasks, including setting up and operating welding equipment, determining welder settings, and verifying final weld penetration and aesthetics.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Perform all responsibilities of the Code Welder position, maintaining a minimum of 3 weld certifications.
  2. Read and interpret blueprints with detailed drawings and dimension styles.
  3. Prepare weld surfaces as required.
  4. Set up, position, and operate hand and power tools such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  5. Determine welder settings required on project.
  6. Verify final weld penetration and aesthetics.
  7. Weld prep and fit-up of steel parts.
  8. Weld according to all appropriate codes and procedures.
  9. Use basic math skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions as needed.
  10. Monitor quality of weld using appropriate tools and measuring devices.
  11. Check welding process to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
  12. Perform grinding, gouging, chipping, operating a grinder, cutting torch, etc.
  13. Operate forklift, as needed, according to safe operating procedures.
  14. Perform all functions safely and follow all safety standards and procedures.
  15. Improve him/herself in any way possible to enhance job performance.
  16. Understand and promote the ISO 9001/2015 culture ensuring that every function and operation happens with high quality.
  17. Function as a team member by assisting, supporting, and encouraging other employees in any way possible.
  18. The employee adheres to all company policies.
  19. Demonstrate commitment to HSEQ. Actively encourage and lead others to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirements.
  20. Ensure that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management and HSE team, HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable.
  21. Ensure that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMS.
  22. Implement standardized methods in order to identify complex problems.
  23. Support proactively the service team to achieve objectives.
  24. Ensure works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with work procedures and instructions.
  25. Prepare and work with Site supervisor and Service manager to follow-up deviations and claims.
  26. Deliver Lessons Learned and feedback for current and future projects.
  27. Keep the Site Supervisor informed of all site-related activities.
