Job Overview

As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner in our Cardiac Care Unit, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals with acute cardiac problems. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the safe and effective management of patients, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing personalized care to patients, adhering to local and national standards
  • Promoting a positive image of self, team, and organization
  • Collecting and dispatching patient samples for testing, following appropriate training and competency assessments
  • Assisting patients with nutritional and hydration needs, in line with their individual care plans
  • Maintaining patient safety, adhering to health, safety, and security legislation, policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Contributing to maintaining safe, clean, and productive care environments, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness
  • Communicating relevant information to Registered Nurses in a professional and timely manner
  • Participating in patient rehabilitation and safe transfer

Our Coronary Care Unit is a 10-bedded high-tech area, providing 24-hour services, 7 days a week, to patients in East Lancashire.

We work closely with our Cardiac Care Ward, which provides a 24-bedded ward for inpatients following coronary care unit treatment. This ward also includes an ambulatory heart failure clinic, enabling patients to receive IV diuretic therapy to prevent in-patient admissions.

Person SpecificationEssential/DesirableEssential Criteria
  • Extensive previous experience in a healthcare setting
  • Clear and accurate written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated ability to cover in the department and provide reasonable flexibility in terms of hours worked to meet service needs across 24 hours
Desirable Criteria
  • GCSE Grade C English and Maths or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working in cardiology wards/departments
  • NVQ Level 3 in care, familiar with organization computer systems
