About the Role

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is seeking an experienced professional to lead our environmental science strategy team. As a Strategic Environmental Science Lead, you will be responsible for driving research and innovation in measurement science to address climate change and sustainability challenges. This is an exciting opportunity to join a world-leading centre of excellence and contribute to shaping the UK's national metrology institute.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic research projects to provide new insights to NPL's environment strategy, business development, and science research.
  • Conduct analytical desk research to identify policy, market, technical, and scientific inputs relevant to NPL's measurement science.
  • Develop relationships with external stakeholders to raise NPL's profile in the environment arena through content-driven engagement.
  • Support Strategic Business Development managers in identifying knowledge and analytical content needs for new funding streams and opportunities.

About You

  • You have a degree in science, preferably with a focus on environmental or sustainability-related fields.
  • You possess strong commercial and leadership skills, with experience in managing multiple complex projects.
  • You are able to synthesise large amounts of information, identify trends, and develop recommendations for strategic decision-making.

Benefits

NPL offers a competitive salary range of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer a range of benefits, including flexible working, social activities, and a positive work-life balance.
