Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our team in the Renal Satellite Unit at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide high-quality patient care and support to patients undergoing haemodialysis.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Participate as a member of the department team providing direct care to patients requiring haemodialysis replacement therapy.
  • Liaise effectively with all staff working within the department to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Act responsibly in emergency situations and report any changes in patient condition to the nurse in charge.
  • Perform basic nursing care for patients, including assisting with haemodialysis machines and equipment.
  • Contribute to the assessment, planning, monitoring, and evaluation of patient care prior to, during, and post haemodialysis.
  • Participate in the upkeep of stock levels and cleanliness within the unit.
  • Support registered staff in the nurse-led satellite dialysis setting to ensure patients' care and well-being are paramount.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 1 year of healthcare experience.
  • A Level 3 qualification in Healthcare or equivalent qualification at Level 3 or working towards NVQ Level 3.
  • NHS experience in a healthcare setting is desirable.
  • Renal experience is also desirable.
