We are seeking a Careers and University Advisor to join our Careers and Employability team, which aims to enable and empower students, recent alumni, and researchers from all disciplines and walks of life, to gain the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to effectively navigate their lives and careers after university and achieve lifelong success.

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to work predominantly with postgraduate researchers and research staff as part of the Careers Consultants for Researchers Team. You will support the development of career management skills and navigating careers in and beyond academia through in-person or online workshops, one-to-one coaching appointments, or designing digital resources.

We encourage applications from candidates who have experience from both within and outside of the Higher Education sector where they can demonstrate the skills needed to succeed in this role.

This is a 0.9 FTE (31.5 hours per week) position, and you will be offered an indefinite contract. We welcome applications from candidates seeking a flexible work pattern around core delivery hours.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

  • A degree or equivalent level education
  • The ability to establish and proactively build professional working relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and appropriately with a range of audiences in different situations
  • The ability to use qualitative and quantitative information to critically evaluate, demonstrate and improve the effectiveness of activities
  • The ability to plan, prioritise and implement projects and regular tasks as part of a busy workload
  • A willingness and ability to seek new and better ways to deliver an excellent service, including embracing technological developments
  • Sufficient work experience to provide understanding of a client's career management needs
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion

Desirable criteria include a relevant professional qualification in careers and employability.
