About the RoleThe successful candidate will work closely with the pastoral lead to support and improve student behaviour and attendance across the secondary school.
- Provide focused support to students experiencing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, helping them to manage their emotions and behaviours within the classroom.
- Conduct one-on-one sessions with students to address individual behaviour concerns and provide targeted SEMH support.
- Respond to situations requiring immediate pastoral and behaviour-related assistance as part of the school's response team.
- Regularly review and adjust behaviour and attendance plans based on student progress, ensuring continued support for SEMH and behavioural needs.
- Perform risk assessments to ensure a safe and supportive environment for students dealing with behavioural and SEMH challenges.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students to encourage improved behaviour and foster emotional resilience.
- Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement behaviour and attendance plans.
- Provide training and support to students on SEMH and behaviour management strategies.
- Conduct regular progress reviews with students to monitor their behaviour and attendance.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with parents and carers to ensure consistent support for students.
- Experience in a secondary school pastoral role or similar position supporting behaviour and SEMH.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to provide effective behaviour and SEMH support to students.
- A genuine passion for education and helping students improve their behaviour and succeed in their learning.
- Ability to work well within a team, particularly in a pastoral and behaviour support capacity.
