About the Role

This SEN Teaching Assistant position is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young children with special educational needs. Working in partnership with the class teacher and SENCo, you will develop and implement personalized support plans to ensure these children receive the best possible care and education.

Key Responsibilities

Main Tasks:

  1. Develop and implement personalized support plans for children with special educational needs, in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCo.
  2. Deliver individual and group support to children, promoting a nurturing and inclusive environment.
  3. Adapt activities to meet each child's unique needs, focusing on early years development goals.
  4. Support social and emotional development, encouraging a sense of inclusion and well-being in the classroom.
  5. Monitor and document children's progress, providing feedback to the teacher and SENCo team.
  6. Encourage positive behavior and help children build essential life skills.
Requirements and Benefits

Essential Criteria:

  1. Experience working in an EYFS or Reception setting, particularly with children who have SEN.
  2. Understanding of the EYFS framework and commitment to early years education.
  3. Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting young children with varying needs.
  4. Excellent communication skills to engage with children, parents, and staff.

A competitive salary based on experience, ranging from £18,000 to £22,000 per annum. A long-term contract with the option of extending or as needed. Opportunity to work in a school with a strong community presence and a supportive team. Willingness to undertake a DBS check through Aspire People or be on the update service.
