Sheffield City Council is seeking a highly skilled Director of Policy and Strategy to join its Employment, Skills and Economy leadership team.

The successful candidate will oversee the Economic Strategy Team and contribute to the development of strategic plans, initiatives, and policies for the Economy Skills and Culture Service and the wider City Futures Directorate.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of economic development strategies. They will work closely with stakeholders, including Elected Members, city partners, and external organisations, to deliver key political priorities.

The salary for this role is £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience.

About the Role:

  • Lead the Economic Strategy Team in developing and implementing strategic plans
  • Contribute to the development of policies and initiatives that promote economic growth and social inclusion
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve key objectives

Requirements:

  • Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. economics, public policy)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role within local government or a related sector
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think strategically and lead cross-functional teams
