Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Apprentice Fabrication Engineer to join our team at Macro Plastics, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our manufacturing equipment, ensuring optimal production efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Support all engineering breakdowns, diagnose faults, and replace machine parts as needed.
- Rectify hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
- Enhance, repair, and maintain all plant, equipment, and services within the manufacturing facility according to the preventative maintenance schedule.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment, working closely with specialist Tool Room Engineers.
- Participate in improvement projects during planned downtime and identify engineering solutions to maximize plant efficiency.
- Maintain relationships with plant and services contractors/suppliers, arranging for necessary engineering works.
- Organize and maintain the technical database.
- Order spares/consumables required to support engineering activities.
- Collaborate with Production, Tool Change, and Tool Room teams to achieve engineering outcomes.
- Operate within key Engineering and Health & Safety codes.
- Perform other tasks as requested by Management.
Requirements
- Ability to stand and/or sit for up to 8 hours or more per day in various climates.
- Moderate to loud noise level – hearing protection is required.
- Fast-paced environment with numerous priority changes and short-notice activity.
- Required to work with/around rubber, latex, and/or silicone during normal job duties.
- 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Level 3 NVQ or Equivalent in Electrical or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
- GCSE Grade C and above or equivalent Maths and English.
- Proven working knowledge of plant maintenance and repairs, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
- Able to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings.
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-growing business and meet tight deadlines.
- Understanding of health and safety processes and safe methods of working.
- Displays safe and considerate working practices.
