BAM Construct & Ventures UK is seeking a highly skilled Senior Planner to join our team in the Central region of our construction business. As a Senior Planner, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

Our regional office is based in Solihull, but you will be expected to travel to projects and offices throughout the region. Your Mission


• Develop and implement comprehensive project programmes using Elecosoft Powerproject for pre-qualifications, tenders, and live projects.

• Identify and select the most suitable techniques and sequence of events for each project, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely completion.

• Analyze sites and local environments to determine optimal logistics solutions and resource requirements.

• Utilize specialist planning computer software, including Synchro or similar, to create detailed project plans and schedules.

• Prepare logistics plans and phasing layouts using PowerPoint, with the ability to model in 3D being an advantage but not essential.

• Create method statements and schedule labour, select major plant and access equipment, including scaffold schedules and tower crane utilization.

• Attend and present at client interviews, effectively communicating project plans and progress.

• Develop and agree subcontractor trade programmes, ensuring seamless collaboration and timely completion.

• Monitor project progress, comparing it with projected schedules, and report findings and recommended solutions to recover delays.

• Record relevant events for potential entitlement claims, maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with company policies.

• Utilize graphical and schedule media to reflect project progress, event impacts, and forecasts, ensuring transparency and effective communication.

• Collaborate with and support the project team throughout the process, making adjustments to project plans as necessary.

• Provide advice and support on the development of specific systems of working, ensuring best practices and continuous improvement.

• Prepare project and activity feedback reports, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.

• Contribute to the development of the company's planning processes and procedures, ensuring they remain effective and efficient.

• Liaise with and coordinate trade contractor's programmes on site, ensuring smooth project execution.

• Mentor and develop more junior members of the planning department, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance their skills and performance.

• Promote planning awareness and appreciation among site teams, ensuring a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Who We're Looking For


• Possess relevant training and knowledge in Health and Safety (e.g., CSCS, SMSTS)

• Demonstrate an energetic, proactive, hands-on, confident, and self-motivated approach, with experience in a similar role

• Showcase demonstrable experience in contract and tender planning, with the ability to lead programme and time management of construction projects

• Possess experience within the construction environment of project delivery across a wide range of market sectors, with a good understanding of high-quality finishes and M&E interfaces.

• Demonstrate experience in tenders and contracts administered under JCT and NEC forms of contract.

• Understand Planning best practices

• Ideally hold a degree qualification, with a minimum of HNC, HND level.

• Possess experience in using Powerproject, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word; SketchUp and Synchro would be an advantage.

• Knowledge in MS Project and Primavera P6 (preferred but not essential).

• Knowledge and practice in 3D/4D modelling (preferred but not essential).

• Possess good communication skills and the ability to work within a team environment or as an individual.

• Demonstrate a good understanding of construction techniques, sequencing, and methodology.
