Planning and Development Control Specialist

The North West Trunk Road Unit spans a vast network of 1,422km of trunk road through some of Scotland's most scenic regions. This includes 1,501 bridges and structures, such as the Kessock Bridge and the A87 Skye Crossing.
The Planning and Development Control Specialist will be part of the Planning and Development Control Team, responsible for third-party works design checks and planning applications, as well as checks for statutory undertakers' works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Third-Party Development Manager in liaising with developers and Transport Scotland regarding planning applications.
- Support Transport Scotland in preparing and administering Minutes or Letters of Agreement and Road Bonds.
- Conduct Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) design checks on third-party works on or under the trunk road.
- Carry out New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 (NRSWA) checks for statutory and non-statutory undertakers.
- Collaborate with the Journey Time Reliability Coordinator (JTRC) on third-party works-related queries.
- Perform other duties as required by the Network Management Contract or directed by the Third-Party Development Manager.
- Meet strict deadlines.
Requirements:
- Qualified to HND or equivalent with experience in a relevant discipline.
- Good understanding of Roads (Scotland) Act 1984 and New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
- Working knowledge of current DMRB and other design standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Assist with correspondence.
- Full approved UK driving licence.
