Job Opportunity: Chief Executive

About the Role

The Pharmaceutical Society NI is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the position of Chief Executive. This is a key leadership role that requires a strong track-record of delivering business change and improvement to enhance organisational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the effective leadership of Pharmaceutical Society (NI) and be accountable for the promotion and regulation of excellent professional standards throughout the profession.
  • Deliver efficient and effective management of the Society to ensure and enhance public confidence in the Pharmaceutical Sector, and to support and develop the Pharmacist profession as key professionals within wider health care.
  • Represent the organisation externally with a variety of different stakeholders and the capacity to influence at regional and national level.
  • Manage financial resources, demonstrating strong commercial acumen and delivery of value for money.

Essential Criteria

  • At least 3 years recent experience of operating at senior management level within a regulatory environment/membership services organisation or an organisation with a complex governance system.
  • Experience of representing an organisation externally with a variety of different stakeholders and the capacity to influence at regional and national level.
  • Experience of the effective and efficient management of financial resources, demonstrating strong commercial acumen and delivery of value for money.
  • A successful track-record of delivering business change and improvement to enhance organisational performance.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to present complex issues clearly to a wide range of internal and external audiences.

Desirable Criteria

  • Understanding of, or experience in, the issues affecting the Pharmaceutical sector in Northern Ireland and awareness of emerging challenges.
  • Post graduate qualification in management/leadership.

Requirements

  • Valid driving licence and use of car, or access to a car for business purposes, to enable the postholder to fulfil the requirements of the role.

It is the regulatory and professional body for pharmacists in Northern Ireland and maintains a register of over 2800 pharmacists, 140 Foundation Year Trainees and over 550 pharmacy premises.
