English Teacher Job Description

GSL Education is seeking an experienced English Teacher to join a local secondary school in Christchurch. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching English literature and language, and be able to create engaging and comprehensive lessons for students of varying abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver high-quality English lessons aligned with the school's curriculum standards, ensuring students are well-prepared for assessments and future academic challenges.
  2. Implement differentiated teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
  3. Utilise innovative and interactive teaching methods, incorporating technology and real-world applications to make English literature and language studies relevant and captivating for students.
  4. Regularly assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
  5. Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters a love for literature and language, promoting respectful behaviour among students.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification in English.
  • PGCE/QTS/QTLS
  • Proven experience teaching English at the secondary level is preferred.
  • Familiarity with and commitment to the principles of the school's curriculum.
