About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Clinical Scientist to join our Radiology Physics team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing expert scientific and technical advice to ensure the safe and effective use of ionising radiation in diagnostic radiology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert scientific and technical advice to NHS Trusts and other organisations on radiation protection and medical physics matters.
  • Design, maintain and manage a comprehensive independent commissioning, quality assurance and calibration programme for all ionising radiation equipment.
  • Lead the development and implementation of new radiological techniques to improve patient management and safety.
  • Manage a team of technical staff and provide training and supervision to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental policy and management of the routine service.
Requirements
  • PhD or equivalent in a relevant field, such as medical physics or radiation protection.
  • Significant experience in radiation protection and medical physics, including experience in a leadership or management role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
