Technical Manager Job Description

Brakes is seeking a skilled Technical Manager to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. As a Technical Manager, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, safety, and legality of our products and suppliers.

The ideal candidate will have a technical background and experience in a food service or fast-paced technical team. You will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to our procurement and category team, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical expertise to the procurement and category team on supplier selection, product quality attributes, and control parameters.
  • Effective supplier management, including site audits, technical expectations, and performance updates.
  • Maintaining the approved supplier database and conducting due diligence audits.
  • Generating and approving own brand artwork.
  • Instigating product risk management action plans and developing awareness of emerging issues.
  • Monitoring complaint trends and root cause analysis.
  • Delivering innovative technical solutions to add value to the business.

About you:

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills. You will have a relevant degree in Food Science or Technology and experience in a similar role. Lead assessor qualification and supplier and product management experience are highly desirable.
