About the Role

As a Consultant in Geriatric Medicine, you will play a crucial role in the development of our innovative Department of Medicine for Older People. The post is based at Warrington Hospital, and you will be expected to assist in the creation of our inpatient and outpatient services. You will work closely with the clinical director to develop our clinical services and contribute directly to acute and general medicine care, discharge planning, and the provision of outpatient clinics.

There is an option to join the acute medical consultant on-call rota, and we will provide support within the job plan for any specialty interests. You will be part of the GIM on-call rota and will have the opportunity to build clinical and non-clinical sessions into your job plan.

Main Responsibilities
  • As a member of the Department of Medicine for Older People, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of our clinical services.
  • You will work closely with the clinical director to develop our clinical services and contribute directly to acute and general medicine care, discharge planning, and the provision of outpatient clinics.
  • You will have the opportunity to build clinical and non-clinical sessions into your job plan, including but not limited to Orthogeriatrics, Perioperative medicine for older people undergoing surgery (POPS), Movement Disorder, Dementia, or acute medicine sessions.
