**Job Title:** Child Development Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our team in Accrington as a Child Development Specialist. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting primary-aged children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of child development and the impact of SEMH on learning and behaviour. They will be able to work closely with the school's Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and other staff to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).

The salary for this position is £12.50 per hour, making it an attractive opportunity for those looking to make a real difference in the lives of children with SEMH needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for children with SEMH needs, both in and outside of the classroom.
  • Help manage behaviour effectively, using de-escalation techniques and restorative practices.
  • Monitor student progress and report on their emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Assist in creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment where all children feel valued and supported.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with children, ideally in a primary school setting, supporting children with SEMH or additional needs.
  • A relevant qualification in education, child development, or a related field (e.g. Teaching Assistant qualification, CACHE Level 3, or equivalent).
