About the Role

The Senior Manager, Digital Risk, plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity of Dow Jones' newsrooms and executive teams by identifying and mitigating digital risks. This position requires a deep understanding of editorial activities, relevant editorial standards, and practices, as well as the ability to balance theoretical security ideals with practical realities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of identifying digital risks and driving appropriate mitigations.
  • Engage with customers, partners, and stakeholders to ensure goals and efforts align with editorial and business objectives.
  • Obtain, curate, and analyze digital risk intelligence to inform editorial activities and executive strategies.
  • Develop and deliver digital risk mitigation and management training packages to newsroom and executive teams.
  • Create, implement, and maintain digital risk policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Identify and implement tools to tackle digital risk.
  • Provide digital-risk input to the assessment of editorial activities and respond to incidents.

Requirements

  • A deep passion for the business of news and truth in an increasingly unstable world.
  • An understanding of editorial activities, editorial standards, and practices.
  • Proven communications technology experience and knowledge of best practices for securing communications.
  • An interest in global events and understanding of how social, political, environmental, economic, and conflict dynamics can affect digital risk.
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to balance theoretical security ideals with practical realities.
  • Passion for solving complex problems and building scalable processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to brief and influence effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in or engaging challenges in digitally hostile environments.
  • Experience working with cyber security teams.
