About This Role

Hestia Housing Support is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill the role of Refuge Worker. This position plays a critical role in our Domestic Abuse Support service, providing guidance and support to survivors of domestic abuse.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with women to co-produce a 'Support and Safety Plan' that focuses on their strengths and goals.
  • Fulfill statutory obligations and work with relevant bodies, such as Social Services, to ensure child safeguarding and adhere to Hestia's safeguarding policies.
  • Deliver casework that identifies and addresses individual housing needs, including support for establishing move-on accommodation.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with individuals with diverse support needs, aspirations, and associated risks.
  • Delivering high-quality floating/outreach support services to people with varied needs and risks.
  • Familiarity with welfare benefits, housing options, and relevant legislation.
  • Knowledge of health and safety protocols relevant to the role and working in service users' homes.
  • Ability to undertake client-focused key working, support planning, and risk assessments to maximize service users' independence.
  • Understanding of mental health, substance misuse, and related issues affecting the client group.
  • Commitment to equal opportunities and promoting service users' rights, privacy, dignity, choice, and control.
  • Capacity to liaise with external professionals to inform and develop service users' support packages.
  • Willingness to engage in relevant personal development and training.
  • Ability to travel throughout the borough of operation.
  • Previous experience using computer-based systems to accurately record work and client details.
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
