We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mammographer to join our Breast Screening team at the InHealth Group. As a Senior Mammographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality imaging services to patients and contributing to the success of our National Breast Screening Programme.
Key Responsibilities- Take high-quality mammograms and participate in the unit's Quality Assurance Programme.
- Indirectly supervise and mentor Assistant Practitioners in the workplace.
- Be competent at obtaining additional views of the breast at Assessment clinics.
- Prepare and assist in biopsy procedures, including targeting for stereotactic examinations.
- Take part in a rota to cover work on mobile screening sites.
- Ensure sufficient supplies are available at mobile sites and arrange transportation if necessary.
- Be competent to use all clinical equipment used by the Service.
- Keep up to date with current trends and techniques in mammography and be able to answer queries on breast health and screening.
- Deal with nervous or anxious clients.
- Record clinical observations as part of the screening process.
- Be confident and professional when positioning women who are naked from the waist up.
- Enter all quality assurance data on the computer.
- Deal with equipment malfunction and know when to suspend its use.
- Maintain a current CPD portfolio.
- Abid by the Ionising Radiation Regulations.
- Identify films suitable for teaching purposes.
- BSc in Radiography.
- PG Cert in Mammography.
- HCPC registration.
- Ability to listen and communicate effectively, using a variety of methods bearing in mind the diverse nature of the clients who attend breast screening.
- Be able to work co-operatively, across organisational boundaries, cultures and diversity to achieve shared goals for the breast screening service and for the organisation.
- Maintain and demonstrate the appropriate and necessary technical knowledge for breast imaging and continue to refine relevant analytical/technical skills as well as professional judgement.
