Advanced Research Engineer

The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Research Engineer to join their Laser Processing Team in Coventry. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering technical projects and supporting the development of new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the technical delivery of surface engineering projects, ensuring they meet customer requirements, budgets, and timescales.
  • Conduct innovative research and development work, focusing on technology readiness levels 3+ and demonstrating industrial project delivery.
  • Contribute to the identification, specification, and delivery of new technologies into the MTC, customers, or industrial members' premises.
  • Collaborate with the team to generate concepts, design, and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Provide technical support during commissioning and maintain awareness of project budgets and deliverables.
  • Develop expertise in laser programming and surface analysis techniques, including wettability, chemistry, tribology, and physical modifications.
  • Produce high-quality reports and presentations, and demonstrate excellent communication and networking skills.
  • Work autonomously to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality expectations, both within a team and independently.
  • Maintain customer confidentiality and adhere to associated processes and policies.
  • Stay up-to-date with the UK manufacturing sector and have a good understanding of life cycle analysis.
