Family Law Specialist

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Law Specialist to join our team in Gloucester. As a key member of our Criminal and Family Law Team, you will play a vital role in providing expert advice and support to victims of domestic abuse involved in Criminal and/or Family & Civil Proceedings.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' experience working within the civil and family courts, with a strong understanding of Family Law and its application in cases involving domestic abuse. You will be responsible for providing specialist general and advanced training for Litigants in Person (LiPs) going through the Family Court on a monthly rolling basis.

You will also attend court, in person or remotely, to represent and/or assist GDASS clients, while maintaining up-to-date and relevant case notes and database entries. Additionally, you will be required to work directly with customers in a challenging environment, prioritizing workload, managing caseload, and making appropriate decisions.

Key Skills and Qualifications

• Recognized and Accredited Legal Training (e.g., Solicitor, Legal Executive, or Senior Paralegal)
• Ongoing regulation in Family Law
• Minimum of 2 years' experience working with victims of domestic abuse
• Ability to prioritize workload, manage caseload, and make appropriate decisions
• Strong, up-to-date legal knowledge for fast and effective signposting and advice
• Experience working with and directing volunteers
