Job Description

Job Title: Paediatric Surgery Trust Grade Doctor

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Paediatric Surgery Trust Grade Doctor to join our team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our Paediatric Surgery department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe and effective care to patients in the Paediatric Surgery department
  • Participate in the on-call rota and provide cover for the Paediatric Surgical ward, surgical newborn unit, outliers, A&E, and CAT units
  • Attend theatre lists and out-patient clinics, and participate in audits and other departmental activities
  • Support the development of the Paediatric Surgery department and contribute to the implementation of new policies and procedures
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients
Requirements:
  • Completion of training in Paediatric Surgery
  • 12 months experience after full GMC registration or equivalent, and evidence of achievement of foundation competences, in line with GMC standards / Good Medical Practice
  • Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk
  • Aptitude for practical skills, e.g. manual dexterity Successful completion of relevant skills course(s)
  • Advanced Paediatric Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent
  • BBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • FRCS (Paediatric Surgery) or equivalent
  • Post CCT in Paediatric Surgery
Working Environment:

The successful candidate will be based at the Leeds General Infirmary in West Yorkshire, working as part of a dynamic and multidisciplinary team. The department provides a wide range of General and specialist Paediatric surgery, including minimal invasive surgery and robotic surgery.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work with a range of patients, from 0-16 years, and will be exposed to various sub-specialties in Paediatric Surgery, including Thoracic Surgery, Upper GI Surgery, Lower GI Surgery, Hepatobiliary Surgery, Oncology Surgery, Neonatal Surgery, and Urology.

The department is committed to providing high-quality patient care and is dedicated to the development of its staff. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a range of consultants and other healthcare professionals, and will be supported in their professional development.
