GCSE/BTEC Art Teacher/Instructor/Tutor, SEMH Provision

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated GCSE/BTEC Art Teacher/Instructor/Tutor to join our team at Protocol Education. As a specialist in art education, you will be responsible for delivering engaging art lessons to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver art lessons according to the GCSE/BTEC curriculum, catering to the diverse needs of students.
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, using this information to inform your teaching practices and improve student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a supportive learning environment that promotes student well-being and academic success.
  • Deliver BTEC Art/Art Activities to small groups of students, typically no more than 12.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans that meet the needs of all students.
  • Take a lead role in the marking of work and assessment for learning within the Art department.
  • Liaise with the pastoral team to monitor student progress, behavior, and attendance.
  • Keep up-to-date registers on attendance and progress, ensuring that information on student progress is tracked in the database.
  • Produce individual learning plans and set appropriate targets for students.
  • Attend meetings with parents and schools as required.
  • Be familiar with and follow the company code of conduct for student behavior, applying disciplinary procedures evenly.

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching art at the GCSE/BTEC level
  • Knowledge of SEMH provision and strategies to support students with additional needs
  • Strong understanding of the GCSE/BTEC Art curriculum
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in classroom management techniques

Working Conditions:

You will be working in a school setting, collaborating with colleagues and supporting students with SEMH needs. The role may involve some additional responsibilities outside of regular teaching hours.
