About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mandarin linguist to join our team at MI5, MI6, and GCHQ. As a Cultural Language Specialist, you will play a critical role in safeguarding the UK by providing linguistic expertise to support our national security missions.

Key Responsibilities

As a National Security Linguist, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing translation and interpretation services to support our intelligence operations
  • Conducting research and analysis to identify key information from Mandarin language sources
  • Working with our multi-disciplinary teams to direct projects and drive forward investigations
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Active and passive language skills in Mandarin, with a proficiency level of C1
  • Excellent written English skills
  • A good knowledge of Chinese culture, history, religion, and politics
