Job Summary

This is a key support role in the intelligence analytical function, providing high-quality intelligence research to Intelligence Analysts. The post holder will be responsible for obtaining and evaluating information relevant to intelligence questions from a range of sources, including HMPPS' databases, open-source information, and research. They will also prepare and supply information to the Intelligence Analyst, establishing and maintaining a catalogue of source information and disseminating intelligence products in line with handling requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and evaluate information relevant to intelligence questions from a range of sources, including HMPPS' databases, open-source information, and research.
  • Prepare and supply information to the Intelligence Analyst, including cross-referencing data sets, writing summaries of source documents, and providing extracts of databases.
  • Establish and maintain a catalogue of source information relevant to intelligence questions.
  • Disseminate intelligence products in line with handling requirements and in compliance with relevant legislation, codes of practice, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance the intelligence picture by seeking new sources of information and maintaining good working relationships with internal and external partners who can supply information.
Requirements
  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Ability to work with large volumes of information in both written and numeric form.
  • Confidence in organising information and using software to do so.
  • Ability to build productive relationships with a range of internal and external partners.
Working Arrangements

The Ministry of Justice offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites, and/or from home. Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Similarly, Hybrid Working will not suit everyone's circumstances.

Standard full-time working hours are 37 hours per week excluding breaks, which are unpaid. HMPPS welcomes part-time, flexible, and job-sharing working patterns, where they meet the demands of the role and business needs.
