Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Internal Communications and External Affairs teams. As Head of Department, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction on internal communications, engaging employees, and influencing external stakeholders. You will also lead the External Affairs team, responsible for leading the FCA's engagement across Whitehall and Westminster, as well as across the four nations of the UK and with trade associations and consumer groups.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Communication Directorate and contribute to the FCA's mission to enable a fair and thriving financial services market for the good of consumers and the economy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Internal Communications team to set the strategic direction on internal communications and engage employees.
  • Lead the External Affairs team to lead the FCA's engagement across Whitehall and Westminster, as well as across the four nations of the UK and with trade associations and consumer groups.
  • Develop and implement effective internal and external communications strategies to engage stakeholders and promote the FCA's work.
  • Collaborate with ExCo colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of FCA-wide events such as Townhalls.
  • Ensure a high-quality service is provided in response to public correspondence to Executive colleagues, freedom of information, and data subject access requests.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience in internal communications and external affairs, preferably in a financial services or regulatory environment.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and engage teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective communications strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
