About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Developer to join our Data and Insight Service team at Reed Engineering. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and delivering data products and services that support business intelligence, analytics, and insights across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead database design, development, maintenance, and management to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Design and implement automated data flows for analytics and business intelligence systems to optimize data processing and reduce manual errors.
  • Convert manual data flows into automated processes, reusing existing data flows where possible, to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Create and implement testing regimes to ensure the quality and effectiveness of data products.
  • Apply best practice development standards and innovate for efficiency and effectiveness in data management and development.
  • Develop and maintain metadata repositories to provide a clear understanding of data structures and relationships.
  • Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather, interpret, and analyze data requirements.
  • Contribute to improvements in data management and development within the Data and Insight Service.
  • Embrace and apply agile development practices to ensure flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
  • Degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Engineering, or Statistics, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in designing, building, and testing data products and services.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server tools, including SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Synapse and/or Data Factory is desirable.
  • Proficiency in various SQL standards, such as T-SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Advanced SQL skills for data transformation, extraction, and linkage.
  • Experience in data modeling and the ability to reverse-engineer data models from operational systems.
  • Ability to design and maintain metadata repositories.
  • Strong analytical skills to gather and interpret stakeholder requirements.
  • Experience in developing automated data flows and understanding the full software development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of agile development practices and a willingness to work in an agile manner.
  • A basic DBS check is required for this role.
