About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Cumbernauld. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all machinery and equipment is installed, maintained, and operated to maximize production output and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles, with experience working on and maintaining equipment and machinery. They will also possess excellent problem-solving skills, a can-do attitude, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned maintenance programs and schedules, recommending improvements to maximize efficiency.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Analyze line efficiency, wastage, and downtime data to identify areas for performance improvement.
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with safe working practices and factory hygiene standards.
  • Produce detailed written reports as required, including downtime sheets and line log books.
  • Consult manufacturers' manuals and mechanical exploded drawings to identify and order replacement parts.
  • Operate machinery as required to ensure efficient manufacturing team working.
  • Champion a part of the line, taking ownership of SOPs and PPMs to improve efficiency and throughput.
Requirements
  • Educated to City & Guilds level or equivalent in a Mechanical/Electrical engineering discipline.
  • Preferably experienced within a multi-skilled food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of maintenance systems and processes.
  • Proven knowledge and experience of initiating and implementing continuous improvements, lean manufacturing, and Six sigma techniques.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Good decision-making skills, confident, and approachable.
