Job Summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Chef to join our team. As a Second Chef, you will play a key role in assisting the Head Chef in creating nutritious and well-balanced menus for our residents. You will work closely with the Head Chef to develop menus that cater to the diverse needs and preferences of our residents, using fresh seasonal produce to deliver high-quality dishes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in menu development and implementation
  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations
  • Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes, cooked to the highest standards
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment in the kitchen, promoting a positive and efficient work culture
  • Manage stock control and complete regular audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Person Specification
  • City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification in culinary arts
  • Good understanding of nutrition and experience working with fresh seasonal food
  • Strong communication skills and a personable and warm approach
  • Ability to create a welcoming environment and engage with residents to create appetizing and nutritious menus
  • Good understanding of HACCP and food safety regulations
