Join Caterpillar's Product Engineering Team

Caterpillar is a global leader in the manufacturing of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines, and diesel-electric locomotives. We are seeking a talented Research and Development Engineer to join our Product Engineering team at our Stafford Engine Centre.

The successful candidate will be responsible for working on Diesel and Gas Internal Combustion Engines, with opportunities to work on a variety of projects across multiple systems and disciplines. The role will involve rotation through business sectors to gain an understanding of wider business functions and experiences.

The two-year Graduate Development Programme will provide the successful candidate with the training, mentoring, and support needed to have a successful career at Caterpillar. The programme will include opportunities to work with other facilities across our global organisation and participate in strategic projects.

The ideal candidate will have developed skills or gained experiences in data analysis and reporting, initiating action, planning and organising, presentation and communication skills, and focus on quality. It is desirable for candidates to demonstrate decision-making, innovation, project leadership, and effective teamwork skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diesel and Gas Engine Performance and Emissions calibration
  • Mechanical verification and validation of engine components and systems
  • Defining and managing component validation plans
  • Coordination of day-to-day engineering activity and management of test and analysis activity
  • Failure analysis and defect resolution using industry-standard methods
  • Technical reporting
  • Working to Standard and agreed processes to maintain quality and compliance
  • Support design activities through concept selection, product risk assessment and Test plans
  • Collaborate with a multinational multi-discipline team across global Caterpillar facilities
