Job Title: Children's Residential Care Team Leader

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Children's Residential Care Team Leader to join our team at Swanton Care & Community Ltd. As a key member of our care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and support to children with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day management of a shift, providing practical assistance and emotional support to empower your team in supporting the children they support to achieve their goals and aspirations.
  • Support the Registered Manager in ensuring the highest standard of care is in place, meeting the needs of the children and their families.
  • Recruit, maintain, and develop the staffing team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and training to provide excellent care.
  • Run shifts, promote positive relationships within the home, and ensure the home is run in line with company policy.
  • Undertake a wide range of duties, including direct care of children with complex needs, and work flexibly to meet the needs of the children and fulfill all health and safety requirements.
  • Provide part of the on-call service for the children's homes, working alongside the management team to ensure the well-being of the children.
  • Act as a member of the team, assisting the management in giving the highest standard of care possible to all the children and young people at Swanton Care & Community Ltd.

Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in childcare or social work, or a commitment to complete within a specified timeframe.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of providing high-quality care and support to children with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, staff, relatives, and external agencies.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative, within agreed procedures and parameters, and to establish effective communication with children, staff, relatives, and external agencies.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write and maintain reports and children's notes, and to communicate effectively with parents, staff, and other professionals.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, creating positive working relationships and contributing to staff meetings and senior staff meetings.
