At Macmillan Publishers, we are seeking a Strategic Project Director to join our team in Heidelberg or London. As part of our Centre of Excellence Team, you will provide project management expertise across the Springer Nature Journals Portfolio.

About the Role

The successful candidate will lead and manage complex initiatives across the Springer Nature journal publishing teams, coordinating cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder expectations. You will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

You will be responsible for:

  • Project leadership - leading multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and strategic priorities.
  • Stakeholder engagement - collaborating with stakeholders at all levels to gather requirements, manage expectations, and provide regular updates on project status.
  • Project planning - developing comprehensive project plans that include timelines, milestones, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Team coordination - assembling and leading project teams, fostering collaboration and communication among team members and stakeholders.
  • Risk management - identifying potential project risks and issues, developing mitigation strategies, and implementing solutions to minimize impact.
  • Performance tracking - establishing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate project success and report on progress to senior management.
  • Process improvement - continuously assessing project management processes and methodologies to identify areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
  • Training and mentorship - providing guidance and support to junior team members, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing.
