Clinical Lead Speech and Language Therapist

Job Summary
The role of the Speech and Language Therapist is to develop and provide a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to individuals with Speech, Language, and Communication Needs. This role sits within the Inpatient Adult Mental Health Service in Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will work with adults who have mental health difficulties, personality disorder, neurodiversity diagnoses, and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The role requires a high level of clinical and professional expertise to ensure that the population benefits from a well-coordinated, proactive, specialist, efficient, and effective SLT service. The role remit includes individual assessment, diagnosis, therapy, and management, training, advice, and liaison. The post holder will have a mixed caseload of Dysphagia and Communication cases.
Main Duties of the Job
To be autonomous and responsible for the assessment, formulation, and management of a specialist clinical caseload, ensuring practice is in line with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists' Position Paper and Quality Guidelines.
To coordinate access to speech and language therapy for both Dysphagia and Communication referrals across two inpatient mental health hospital sites.
To develop and implement the 5 Good Communication standards.
To represent the Speech and Language Therapy service at agreed forums as required.
To be responsible for the mentoring, supervision, and management of junior speech and language therapists, assistant speech and language therapists, and students (as required and appropriate).
