Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior clinician to work in our Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) wards, based across two sites. The post holder will work across five wards, taking referrals to support the nutritional needs of our dementia and mental health patients.

The Clinical Lead Dietitian will be responsible for the integration and provision of a comprehensive and quality dietetic service for all MHSOP inpatients. The post holder will also be responsible for providing advice around good nutritional care into MHSOP community services.

The Clinical Lead Dietitian will contribute to further service development, policy writing, and lead on delegated service development projects.

About the Role

The post holder will work as part of the Inpatient Therapy Team, which consists of a Team Leader, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapist, Physiotherapists, and Support Workers. The team is supported by a Professional Lead Dietitian across the care group and an AHP Lead.

The Clinical Lead Dietitian will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to colleagues on nutritional care and will contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a comprehensive and quality dietetic service for all MHSOP inpatients
  • Provide advice around good nutritional care into MHSOP community services
  • Contribute to further service development, policy writing, and lead on delegated service development projects
  • Work as part of the Inpatient Therapy Team to provide a holistic approach to patient care
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent post-grad qualification leading to registration with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Dietitian
  • Membership of the British Dietetic Association (BDA)
  • Post-registration clinical experience obtained within a range of acute/community/social care settings
  • Leadership course
  • Membership of the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Specialist Group (e.g., older people or mental health)
Working Arrangements

The post holder will be required to work across two sites, with some flexibility to meet the needs of the post. Possible evening/weekend sessions may be required.
