Dispensing Assistant Role Summary

The ideal candidate will be part of a friendly team, working in the delivery of first-class services. They will demonstrate an excellent understanding of customer needs and be motivated to achieve sales.

Key Responsibilities:Assisting in Dispensing
  1. Minor repairs to frames
  2. Carrying out OCT, retinal photography, tonometry, and visual field tests supplementary to an eye examination, and alerting the optometrist to any unusual or abnormal features.
  3. Keeping appropriate records and reporting to the Practice Manager as required.
Selling & Customer Relationship Management
  1. Maximizing sales while minimizing costs to ensure the achievement of specified margins and targets.
  2. Ascertaining the wants and needs of each customer.
  3. Recommending, selecting, and helping locate merchandise based on customer needs and wants.
  4. Describing merchandise and explaining its use, benefits, operation, and care to customers.
  5. Maintaining knowledge of current sales and promotions, as well as policies regarding payment, exchanges, and security.
  6. Serving customers, bagging, and packaging purchases.
  7. Observing and identifying security risks and theft, and preventing and attending to these occurrences appropriately.
  8. Ensuring the practice provides excellent customer service at all times, meeting and exceeding customer expectations.
  9. Answering telephones and dealing with enquiries and appointments.
  10. Managing enquiries, complaints, refunds, etc. as required.
Team
  1. Implementing the policies and procedures set out in the Employment Handbook.
  2. Contribute to positive working relationships within the team.
  3. Aware of the needs of team members and showing them courtesy.
  4. Communicating effectively with others in the team.
  5. Working collaboratively with team members and management colleagues to meet the objectives of the business.
  6. Putting forward ideas and feedback during team meetings to improve ways of working.
Health & Safety / Environmental Health
  1. Implementing the legal obligation to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
  2. Following the company's procedures, as described in the Health & Safety Policy.
  3. Reporting anything unsafe to the Operations Director, and reporting accidents, near misses, etc. in the accident book.
Other Tasks
  1. Representing the company at events, as required.
  2. Undertaking any other tasks that may be reasonably requested.
