Senior Quality Engineer Job Description

Astute's Nuclear team is a trusted partner for a leading global engineering and design manufacturer, serving heavily regulated industries such as nuclear. They develop innovative sensors and instrumentation and control solutions for harsh environments and mission-critical applications where safety and reliability are paramount.

The Senior Quality Engineer will play a pivotal role in leading and supporting the creation, implementation, and maintenance of quality requirements. This individual will audit and monitor products and processes to ensure compliance, working closely with the Quality Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the non-conformance process, ensuring timely and effective resolution of non-conformances.
  2. Conduct scheduled audits of external suppliers, internal processes, projects, products, and processes to support the business management system audit program.
  3. Host and support customer, third-party, regulatory, and statutory audits as required, including source inspection activities.
  4. Provide technical quality oversight for the contract review process.
  5. Collaborate with Project Managers to create, implement, and maintain Quality Plans.
  6. Conduct document reviews for projects as needed.
  7. Monitor supplier performance and contribute to vendor review meetings, targeting supply chain development actions as required.
Requirements:
  1. Educated to BTEC/ONC Level or Equivalent, or adequate Quality Engineering experience.
Personal Qualities:
  1. Previous experience in a Quality Assurance role is essential.
  2. Sound knowledge of Quality management principles and techniques within a manufacturing environment, including non-conformance management principles and problem-solving techniques.
  3. Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings, including tolerances, geometric tolerances, and weld symbols.
  4. Prior experience and good understanding of metrology techniques for precision mechanical component inspection.
  5. Competent user of Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
